Melasma is a common skin disorder, known as "mask of pregnancy". Women see dark facial pigmentation on their cheeks, lips, nose, and forehead. Thermage, the Gold Standard for skin tightening does have its limitations. In my opinion, and being a Thermage Center of Excellence, I think Thermage does a phenomenal job at tightening the skin from head to toe. You do have to be a candidate for the treatment. You cannot have excessively loose skin because there are limitations to non-surgical procedures. You can Thermage your eyes, face, arms, tummy, legs, knees, buttocks and more. Melasma (also known as Chloasma, or “mask of pregnancy” ) is a common increase of pigmentation that occurs exclusively in sun-exposed areas, in particular on the face. It usually causes three different patterns of symmetrical pigmentation on the face, affecting most commonly the central face (cheeks, forehead, upper lip, nose and chin); or less commonly the cheeks and nose, or the cheeks and jawline.

Understanding Laser Hair Removal at Jardin Medical Spa in Philadelphia

How does it work?
Depending on the area being treated, the treatment can take several minutes to an hour. The most commonly used laser uses lasers with a low energy beam and produces one single color light. The beam passes through the patients' skin and gets attracted to the pigment of the hair. The energy from the laser passes down the hair shaft and is absorbed by hair follicles that are in active growth phase. This then results to inflammation and delivers a signal to the follicle indicating that it should move into telegen or resting phase. Not all hair follicles are in the growth phase, so that is why patients need multiple sessions. Results can be visible after one treatment; most patients need about 8 sessions. Maintenance treatments are needed in order for the hair not to grow back. So the efficiency of the laser hair removal depends on the patient and how committed they are to keeping up with it. Tackling Acne and Aging-Resurfacing

It’s easy to associate acne with physical scars, but it’s often the psychological scars that are most damaging. Many people underestimate the psychological effects of acne, with most people finding it hard to understand the impact unless you have experienced it first hand. Acne occurs when the oil glands in the skin become blocked. Hormones make the oil glands produce more oil (sebum) and if the pores are blocked, the build up occurs. If the oil glands continue to secrete oil with nowhere to go, the stasis can cause infection resulting in acne, with the prolonged infection can cause scars.
Acne scars occur due to infection, causing scar tissue to contract, resulting in a depression in the skin. The goal of a cosmetic practice is to make these scars less obvious, to smooth and contour the skin and make long-term improvements.
Fraxel laser is now seen as a key player in treating facial scarring, with clients reporting outstanding results since its introduction into the US. Fraxel laser treatments work by producing thousands of tiny but deep columns in the skin, known as micro thermal treatment zones, eliminating old epidermal pigmented cells and stimulating collagen production.
